The Evening

The beach, the sand,
your holding my hand,
the shrilling of the waves,
its this time with you, i wanna save and encase.

The orange sky,
the coconut drink,
the fading footprints,
on the sand that we made.

Your third try,
for the sand castle to stand,
and it doomed again,
but you still laugh at it with some kids around.

We walked and talked,
and talked and talked,
that was a never ending sunset,
an evening i will never forget.

Suddenly you paced,
and came upfront,
and i was shrugged,
to feel that you grip my palm.

"You are the words,
of every poem that I wrote,
You are in my thoughts,
always and forever,till this sun exist."

"You gave my life,
a meaning, a reason to survive,
I love you, and I am here to ask,
Will you marry me and be my wife."

There was a silence,
and I could hear my heart loud,
'say yes,say yes'..it said,
but those lips were numb and taut.

I saw in your eyes,
a plea, a request,
like you were waiting eagerly,
to hear just one word and that was yes!!

Finally I mumbled,
and with a shy smile,I said yes,
and hugged you and kissed you,
to tell you that I feel the same.

We were there,
lost in the beach,
and then i heard someone calling,
"Granny,granny...i want some ice-cream please"

I opened my eyes,
and soon did i realise,
it happened some 50 years back,
but I just lived it again,the feelings tantamount.

I saw u smiling still,
in the picture with purple frame.
though you are gone now,but,
your love for me is enough to live and bear all the pain.
